Built around 1885 by James C. Jackson, multi term Mayor and Alderman of Marion. The Mayor eventually moved around 1918 to 402 S. Madison. The house was purchased by Nancy Davis who then owned a Piano and Phonograph store located at 304 N. Market St. Ms. Davis owned the home till about 1929. By the 1930 census, the home was owned by her brother William T. Davis, a cement mason and his sister Nancy, then 56, was living with him and his family at this location. The house was torn down in 2002.
The photo was taken ca 1887 while occupied by the Jackson family. Shown in the photo are Cynthia Jackson, Margaret Jackson Bainbridge, James C. Jackson and daughter, Jessie Jackson, Earl Jackson in window, Arthur Aikman, Harold Hartwell in front of fence, Augusta Jackson Barter, Mae Gallagher on top of house.
