This home was built around 1875 for Hartwell Hendrickson and his wife Nannie Hendrickson, the first girl born in Marion. Hartwell died in 1899 and Nannie continued to live there until her death which I suspect as being around 1910. The home, which was originally red brick, is a good example of Greek Revival Architecture. After Nannie, the house was in the possession of George W. Walker, a retail salesman, and his wife Sopha until 1929.
The 1930 census reveals that the home was then rented that year to Alice Parmley who lived with her granddaughter and hosted 4 boarders.
In the 1940 census, the house was still a rental and occupied by three families. I suspect the house finally fell out of disfavor due to its proximity to commercial business and a decaying neighborhood.
The house was eventually demolished in the spring of 2005.
