This home at 804 S. Buchanan Street was already in existence in 1904 when building contractor and City Alderman Otis W. Williams bought it and did extensive remodeling. Otis moved his family from their home on East College Street to occupy this large, roomy, two story home with nine rooms. It stood on an 85 x 142 foot lot and in 1904 was valued at $3,000. Otis was quoted as saying in that year that they “didn’t care to sell.” Ironically, by the 1907 street directory it no longer existed and the Williams family was then living at 112 E. Jefferson. I suspect the home burned down around 1905 or 1906. Today there isn’t a hint that this house even existed.
