According to an article written in the Marion Daily Republican around 1951, this home was built in the late 1870’s by Robert M. Hundley. It was acquired by Charles H. Denison and his wife Mary Elizabeth in 1879 where they raised four children. While living here Charles served two terms as Mayor of Marion and was President of the Marion State and Savings bank in addition to being a large property owner in and outside of town.

Originally located at 915 W. Main St. on the corner of S. Vicksburg and W. Main on a lot over 400 feet in both directions this house served as a landmark for generations of Marion families until the early 1950’s when it had to be moved to make room for construction of the Marion Memorial Hospital. It was originally moved just to the SE of the hospital and for years served as a boarding house for nurses. In 1953 when the hospital was built it was decided to add a parking lot so the home was moved again in 1955 or 56 to its current location at 904 W. Cherry St.

The home is a historic Victorian with four bedrooms, three baths and 3,400 square feet. It has French doors, leaded glass appointments, two staircases, and stained glass throughout, a large covered porch, solid wood and hardwood floors throughout the home.

Charles Denison’s son Edward, an attorney and multi-term congressman, lived in the home after his father’s death until it was moved in the early 50’s.  The home has undergone renovation and modernization and of this writing in January 2013 is up for sale once more for $230,000.
