Jimmy Carter visited Williamson County to campaign for the Presidency three times. First, campaigning for the Democratic nomination, Carter spoke at the Williamson County Airport and at the Marion Civic Center. Later that year on October 26, after having won the nomination of his party, he again campaigned in the County. Seeking re-election, he returned for a third time to Williamson County on October 13,1980, and ppeared at a reception at the Ban-Dor Motor Inn in Marion.
