With the steady advance in improvements in all matters pertaining to education, a change from the old system of control under the old law was inevitable, and it came in 1898. The Board of Education was organized at that time, and its first members were: William H. Bundy, its first president, W. W. Clemmens, Judge Warren W. Duncan, Dr. A. M. Edwards, John M. Cline, William J. Aikman and John H. Burnett.
They were divided into one, two and three year members, and the President and two members are elected every year.
The two new members of the present Board are Edwin M. Stotlar, President, and J.M. Dodd.
