The Adams Cab Company was brought into existence in the very late 1930’s at 414 ½ N. Market Street by Joseph Samuel Adams.
During this period, three Adams brothers had a lock on the businesses in this section of N. Market. Joe’s older brother Raymond Adam’s ran Adam’s Barber Shop located at 414 N. Market until his death in1948 and his other older brother Lloyd Adams opened and operated Adam’s Shoe Shop at 416 N. Market until it was passed off to yet another brother Charles Vincent Adams in the early 1950’s.
I haven’t found a definitive end date for the Cab Company but it was out of existence between 1942 and 1947. My own father, Sam Lattuca, drove a cab for the Adam’s company in 1939.
