Three articles taken from the Egyptian press newspaper of 1915 give details as to the disposition of the Grandma Cline house that used to occupy the lot where the library is located, its construction and also details of the first librarian and board of directors.

The grandma Cline home on S. Market was purchased by Jno. H. Farris, who was moving it to S. Mechanic Street to clear the lot for the new Marion Carnegie Library.

Robert Sparks, local contractor was awarded the contract for construction of the new $20,000 Marion Carnegie Library. Sparks bid was $15,998.15 There were separate bids for plumbing and heating. The library board consists of Mark Woodley, Edwin M. Stotlar, Robert O. Clarida, H.D. Norris, George R. Stone, Edward M. Spiller, George H. Goodall, P.B. Wilson and Edward Longbons.

Miss Marie Williams was appointed as the first librarian of the Marion Carnegie Library. She left for the University of Illinois for special training in library work.
