City Council Canvassed Vote
Bainbridge Square Plat Approved and Election Result Determined
The city council Monday night canvassed the vote of last week’s judicial election and passed a resolution accepting the plat of Bainbridge Square, Marion’s latest subdivision.
The canvass of the October 14 election officially determined the re-election of John M. Reid as city judge over A.R. Cagle by a vote of 1024 to 592. It also established the election of John K. Miller as city clerk over Hugh Hudgens by a vote of 995 to 502.
A resolution for acceptance of Bainbridge Square as a subdivision was presented by Attorney Kenneth Powless. The subdivision extending south from Copeland Street along the boundary of the Veterans Hospital grounds is already within the city limits, and the action Monday night marked the acceptance of the plat as it has been divided by Lawrence Bainbridge, the owner, into building lots and public streets. The plat accepted by the Council Monday night represents about one third of the entire 40 acre tract in the projected subdivision and includes the site which Bainbridge has offered as a site for a community hospital.
