Regrettably, I could not find out a lot about Samuel W. Walker, but I didn’t want to lose my notes about him that I was able to find so this article will just serve as a place marker for him and hopefully we can find out more in the future.
In 1888, when a post office was secured for New Denison in February 28th Samuel W. Walker was assigned as postmaster. New Denison was a railroad stop located east of Marion on what is now Route 166 toward Creal Springs.
An article appeared in the Leader newspaper in Marion indicating that Alta Walker, 12.5 year old daughter of Samuel W. Walker had died at their home on W. Main Street on April 14, 1889. It was noted that burial was in the new city cemetery, which should be Old Rose Hill Cemetery, but her grave was not located in their database.
When the Marion Rebekah Lodge No. 93 was created on January 16th, 1892, Walker was a charter member.
In 1892, Samuel Walker was elected as a city alderman under Mayor Shannon Holland and re-elected again in 1893 and 1894 under Mayor James W. Westbrook.
