Frick, Gottlieb James 1881-1953

Gottlieb James Frick was born in Plumfield Illinois in Franklin County on April 18, 1881. When he was 18 years old he worked as a day laborer while living with his uncle Henry Frick in Belleville Illinois. Henry was a tea and coffee merchant and this may have been where Gottlieb learned some of his life skills. Continue reading

Six chorus girls thank patrolman Harry Thompson for a night’s lodging. The girls, part of a show troupe taking part in the Williamson County Fair, arrived here to find they had no hotel reservations. The girls were allowed to sleep in the City Jail.

This photo was found at the Williamson County Historical Society and is a photo of the county clerk’s staff that appeared in the Marion Daily Republican in January of 1954. The photo was taken by Carl Sorgen who was doing photography for the Marion Daily Republican.

Shown left to right are: County Clerk Harry R. Rodd, Deputy Clerks C.M. Edwards, James L. Kilbreth, Wiley Storme, Miss Hallie Richey, Miss Aileen Sims, Mrs. Dorothea Fry, Mrs. Cassie Gibbs and Miss Lois Jane Wilson. Mrs. Ruby Barger, another clerk in the office, was not present when the picture was made.
