James Cafield Mitchell was born in Corinth Township, near Attila in Williamson County on October 30, 1852 to William N. Mitchell and Rachel Roberts. He attended the public schools and at the early age of 16 years engaged in the drug business, in which he continued with success until 1886. Continue reading

Before Rose Hill Cemetery came into existence, Marion, Illinois citizens were buried at the old Marion Cemetery, aka Aikman Cemetery. When the city started growing and more space was required Rose Hill was established in 1884 and some of the graves were moved from the old cemetery. Continue reading

John Hartwell Duncan is a Kentuckian by birth, and the son of a Kentuckian. His father was Captain Samuel Duncan, of Co. A, 15th Kentucky Cavalry, who died September 25, 1867, at New Burnside, Illinois, at the early age of forty eight. Continue reading
