Harry W. Beneke was born in Burlington, Iowa, July 3, 1926, to Harry W. and Catherine (Rohleder) Beneke Sr. His father was killed in an elevator accident when Harry was in the fourth grade. Herman Bearden was born in Marion, on June 27, 1907, the son of Issac Noah and Sula (Moore) Bearden. He was an active builder, banker and businessman.
In the 1910 census, Herman was age 3 and living with his parents, three brothers and two sisters at the family home located at 1203 N. State Street. Herman’s father listed himself as a house carpenter. Continue reading

William Joseph Caplinger was a carpenter by trade. After moving to Marion in 1900, he was very active as a carpenter and contractor, having built a large number of the better homes and buildings in Marion. Continue reading
