This home was built around 1875 for Hartwell Hendrickson and his wife Nannie Hendrickson, the first girl born in Marion. Hartwell died in 1899 and Nannie continued to live there until her death which I suspect as being around 1910. The home, which was originally red brick, is a good example of Greek Revival Architecture. Continue reading
The land now occupied by the home at 402 South Market Street was public land in 1839 when a Certificate of Entry was granted to Archibald Benson from the U. S. Land Office in Shawneetown, Illinois. Continue reading
Built in 1890 by Francis M. Westbrook, a successful dry goods merchant. He lived in the house with his wife Paulina (Lafferty) and their children James W. (Willie), Willis F. and Daisy Bella till his death in 1910 and hers in 1912. Continue reading
