Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Hendrickson are entitled to and are no doubt receiving the sympathies of every citizen in Marion. Last Sunday, they followed to his eternal rest their only baby, Aud Leo, aged about two and a half years. Scarcely a year ago, they were subjected to a like affliction.    EP 7 Oct 1880

Dr. Tidwell of Atilla reports that R.P. Dodd, late of this county, after a short stay in the west, started back to Illinois, changed his mind at Carthage, Missouri and returned to Greenwood, Kansas where he moved into a tent last December in a place known as Valley. In January, he built the first house and now reports a railroad crossing, 150 buildings, 35 business houses and 4 large hotels. He is postmaster in the new town.     MM 1 Apr 1880

At a new trial, the Crews brothers were sentenced to 14 years each in Jackson County for killing Armstrong. At the first trial, the sentence was 35 years each.   MM 1 Jan 1880
