The worthwhile accomplishments of some groups seem forgotten to history because no one has been interested enough to record their many good deeds done on a daily basis. So it is with our funeral professionals. These dedicated people have been right alongside us as Marion has grown from a small pioneer settlement into the City of which we are so proud today. Gottlieb James Frick was born in Plumfield Illinois in Franklin County on April 18, 1881. When he was 18 years old he worked as a day laborer while living with his uncle Henry Frick in Belleville Illinois. Henry was a tea and coffee merchant and this may have been where Gottlieb learned some of his life skills. Continue reading
G.J. Frick Cash Grocery was owned and operated by an interesting man named Gottlieb James Frick. Gottlieb and his wife Pearl appear to have opened the grocery around 1905 and then for reasons unknown moved to New Mexico for a short period around 1910. Continue reading
Damage was estimated at $25,000 Tuesday in a fire at 8:30 pm Tuesday in a fire Saturday which destroyed a garage at the Frick Funeral Home. Continue reading
